Parent Contact Information

Hello Parents and Guardians,

Thanks for taking the time to look at our classroom blog. This is my primary means of letting you know at home, what is happening in the class each day.  On the top right corner of the page, you can subscribe to our blog and receive a daily email between 3:00-5:00 pm.

Before the students leave at the end of the day, we will complete together a blog entry indicating all homework, upcoming assignments, and important events happening at our school. AGENDAS are not mandatory in my classroom. What is mandatory, is for students to discover what type of organizational method works best for them.

On the blog I will be posting a great deal of useful information, such as:
  • homework assignments
  • assessment information (how work is being marked)
  • learning goals for literacy and math
  • links to provide students with extra practice
  • texts (videos, readings etc.) for students to enrich class discussions and activities
  • links to all online tools we will be using in class

I would also like to compile a list of email addresses from the parents/guardians in the class, so that I can occasionally send out group emails about important events, projects, etc. You can click on the link (It's in Red) below to fill in the contact information of up to two people for each student.

If you need to contact me, I prefer if you email me directly using my board email address brian.kaufman@yrdsb.ca. This email address goes straight to my phone and I will get back to you as quickly as possible.

I'm looking forward to a great year!!!

Welcome Letter

September 6, 2016

Welcome back

This summer was slightly different than my usual 50 rounds of golf.  At the end of the school year, my wife Ashlee went back to work, this left daddy in complete control.  Although, I was a little nervous at first, Aria and I had the BEST summer together.  I hash tagged it as "Daddy Dates"!  Activities were key to my survival, including regular trips to the pool, weekly gymnastics classes, library and parachute club, and zoo visits were among our favourites.

One of my passions is "Golf".  Due to time restrictions and chasing around a busy toddler, I didn't play as much golf as usual.  This summer  I was lucky to play Osprey Valley, Silver Lakes, National Pines and a few other tracks that surround the GTA.  Overall, I would say the state of my game was "inconsistent"..... Let's leave it at that :)

Another activity that I enjoy in my free time is READING.  This summer I read several books including "Change Up", "Orbiting Jupiter", "In from the Cold" and "A Good Walk Spoiled" and "Golf is not a game of Perfect"!  I also spent countless hours following my twitter timeline and reading sports articles on my iPad.

We are all now back for another school year.  This year's classroom quote is "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard".  Whether were in the gym or in the classroom, I expect your best effort.   Let's make the next 200 days great!

                                                          Sincerely B. Kaufman
